Your BLW & Toddler Gift Guide

UPDATE: Want my 2022 Holiday Gift Guide all wrapped up in one place? Click here for a free download!

If you’re still trying to figure out gifts for little ones this holiday season (or GREAT baby shower gifts!) I’ve got you covered!

Shopping for your own little one?

Think about practical items that will last you a long time, but also items that will provide your baby with the best outcome. Some of the feeding tools out there aren’t great for BLW or for self-feeding. And some are just not safe for baby!

We want success right? Check out what I recommend below!

Shopping for a family member or friend’s little one?

Shopping for a specific type of item? Browse below – I’ve already done the hard work for you.

High Chair with Footrest –

If you have already purchased a high chair and it does not have a footrest, do not panic. Google searching your high chair can help you find footrests that have been created to add on, or you can try to create a makeshift one.

·      Ikea Antilop

o   I recommend getting a footrest with the Antilop, as it does not come with one, but at the very low price point, a footrest is likely affordable. Something like this works great!

o   Want to check out cute accessories for the antilop to give it a cute footrest, cushion cover, and tray cover? Check out Yeah Baby Goods!

·      Stokke Tripp Trap – may need to buy the tray and infant attachment separately depending on where you purchase; adjustable chair to fit your child as they grow!

·      Abiie Beyond Wooden High Chair/Tray – adjustable chair to fit your child as they grow! Downside of this one is a small-ish tray…does not fit all Ezpz mats

·      Nomi High Chair – may need to buy the tray attachment separately depending on where you purchase

·      On-the-go option: Summer Infant Pop ‘N Sit portable chair with tray – many bowls/plates won’t fit on this tray but it’s a great option for traveling, picnics, or just having dinner in the back yard!

Bibs-

While silicone/pocket-style bibs are ok, they create extra bulk that creates a less pleasant eating experience. These can also get in the way when baby learns to transfer food from one hand to the other. We have some that we use too, but do prefer the more flat, smock-style bib as listed below.

·      Bumkins – sell multiple styles including sleeved bibs which are great for the messiest of meals

·      Bapron Baby – similar style to the Bumkins sleeved & starter bibs, which lay flat, allowing for a more natural eating experience for baby. Baprons tie in the back rather than Velcro, so are much harder for baby to take off mid-meal – because it does happen!!!

·      Green Sprouts Bibs – also great options in the smock style!

·      Mushie Silicone bib

Utensils-

·      Ezpz Tiny Spoons – GREAT starter options specially designed by a speech language pathologist

·      Ezpz Mini Utensils – this is a fork and spoon set that is designed to be used around 12+ months of age – but great to consider if you’re planning ahead!

·      Sensominds spoons & cups package

·      Constructive Eating: creative utensils for food play for your toddlers! – tractor set or dinosaur set

Bowls/Plates-

·      Ezpz – a nice variety of options at different sizes! The bowl/plate is part of a larger mat that suctions to the table, which is great for preventing baby from picking up and flipping their plate

·      Ezpz has a First Foods Set which is an amazing starter option – you get a Mini Bowl, 2 Tiny Spoons, and a Tiny Cup!

·      Bumkins – great sectioned plates that are a bit smaller in diameter than Ezpz stuff – so great for smaller high chair trays like the Abiie

·      Constructive Eating: creative utensils and plates for food play – best for toddlers/older children

Cups-

·      Ezpz Tiny Cup – holds 2oz of liquid, has a weighted bottom for less tipping, perfect for little hands to hold

·      Ezpz Straw Mini Cup for practice with straw after spending some time practicing with open cup

·      Lollacup Straw cup with detachable handles; easy to drink from but is not spill proof

·      Munchkin Straw cup – spill proof, but the liquid is a little bit harder to get out of this cup

·      Sensominds spoons & cups package – open cup – they have some with handles and some without, but all the open cup concept!

·      Insulated straw cups for keeping things cold

Splash Mat/Splat Mat-

·      Bumkins – square shape 42” x 42”

·      Bapron Baby – square shape 45” x 45”

·      Round 51” mat if you prefer the round shape

Washcloths-

Any washcloths are obviously fine, but I recommend thin ones like these because they make it easier to clean between tiny fingers..and believe me. Food gets stuck in there!

·      Spasilk wash cloths – 10 pack – this is great because you can use 1-2/day and never run out – because you’re always running laundry, right?

Food Items-

·      Puffworks - A great way to introduce peanut and tree nut potential allergens to your little one – their baby puff line is great for first foods!

·      Tiny Sprouts – Baby-safe versions of seeds that not only pack in nutrients from the seeds themselves, but also are fortified with probiotics and vitamin D! Add these to any food item – such as yogurt, oatmeal, roll fruit strips in it for better grip, etc.

·      Smash Cakes – Want a tasty dessert option that your little one can partake in but you don’t want them to get a ton of added sugars and fillers? Smashcake mixes and frostings are perfect for a sweet treat – can make cakes or muffins with these mixes!

·      Tiny Organics – great to stash your freezer with quick, easy to thaw meals for baby – that still provide great texture for BLW practice!

Happy Shopping! 🥰
